Radical independence group to hold activist conference on future campaigns
THE Campaign for Radical Independence has written to the Yes DIY page asking us to let Yes supporters know that they are very much alive and preparing for a future second independence referendum.
Dave Coull from the campaign wrote to tell us that 24 people attended the Campaign for Radical Independence (RIC) Zoom meeting last Thursday evening.
He wrote: “Regarding the actual decisions made at the meeting: we aim to hold a radical independence conference as soon as possible after we know the results of the May 6 election.
“Due to continuing concerns about Covid, this conference will be hosted by Zoom.”
“This conference will be different from previous RIC conferences. There will be no renowned speakers.

“It will be a hands-on decision-making event for activists. The intention is to use this event as a way to launch a new campaign for radical independence in the new post-election situation.
“The event is not completely ‘public’ in the sense that obviously we don’t want any Conservative Party supporters or fellow travelers at this conference.
“But the intention is to make it open to anyone who is not really hostile to independence of a more radical nature. There should be a public call to action at the end of this conference. ”
A working group for the organization of the conference is convened by Jack Ferguson who is developing an RIC group in Fife.
