Prohibition orders blocked in 14 more KJVs in Malappuram | Malappuram prohibition order
Malappuram: Seeking to contain the spread of the second wave of COVID-19, prohibition orders were blocked Tuesday in 14 other local self-government units (LSGs) in the Malappuram district of Kerala.
District Receiver K Sreenivas imposed the orders under 144 CrPC. Similar restrictions were already in place in 24 LSG neighborhoods in the district until April 30, official sources said.
The prohibition orders were imposed within municipal limits, where the test positivity rate exceeded 30%, they said.
The LSG units, which fall under the new ban order until April 30, are Purathur, Thennala, Thiruvali, Moonniyur, Valavannur, Edavanna, Urangattiri, Vattamkulam, Keezhuparamba, Kuzhimanna, Vengara, Kannamangalam, Kalikavu and Kalpakatsancherry gramaha.
According to the order, the curbs would come into effect from 9 p.m. tonight and would be in effect until April 30. The restrictions would be in effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. in other parts of the district, he said.
Although strict control has been effective, restrictive congregations and public gatherings are needed to verify the spread, the order stressed.
